This month, Geoff Parling OD has been selected as Australia’s forward coach and will work alongside Dave Rennie in the upcoming season.
Parling, who was born in Stockton-on-Tees, left Durham School in 2002 and went on to play for the Newcastle Falcons whilst studying at Newcastle University.
Between 2003-2009, Parling made 116 appearances for the Falcons and captained the team throughout 2006-07. Throughout the past 10 years Parling has played as a lock for several teams including the Leicester Tigers, the Exeter Chiefs, Munakata Sanix Blues, the Melbourne Rebels, and he made 29 appearances for England.
Parling finished his professional rugby career in 2018 and then went on to coach the Melbourne Rebels for two years.
Rennie commented, “Parling is a good man. He’s technically very strong around lineout and maul and he has impressed me with his work ethic to get up to speed over the last two weeks”.
It is fantastic when we see our OD's doing so well. We wish Geoff all the best!
