Following the decision by the Government to close all UK schools, Durham School will be closed from the end of 20th March 2020 until further notice. Lessons for the remainder of this term will be delivered online (see below).
The school will make provisions for pupils of key workers and vulnerable students.
A letter has been issued to all Parents/Guardians directly which provides additional details (see a copy of the letter below).
Thank you for your continued support during this difficult time. We will be updating this page with the most up-to-date information regularly.
Please find concise FAQs below:
Prospective Parents & Agents
Our admissions office remains open and we are accepting applications for September 2020. However, please note we are unable to offer visits and site tours during school closure. If you need to contact us, please email email@example.com and a member of the team will get back to you promptly.
If you have a planned visit or tour scheduled, the admissions team will be in touch with you directly.
Activities and trips
Regrettably, all extra-curricular activities, fixtures and trips have been cancelled.
Continued learning – Durham School
We will endeavour to follow the normal school timetable as much as we can. Work will be provided for lessons and pupils will be expected to log on to the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) at their normal lesson time to access and carry out this work.
In the first instance, pupils should log on to the VLE and go to the “Classes” section to find the work; in some cases, subject specific arrangements such as the use of Microsoft Teams will then take effect, as well as other subject-specific resources. More information on the resources which we will be using are in the letter (below) and have been shared with pupils and Parents/Guardians.
Continued learning – Bow School
For children at Bow, we have worked hard to ensure that continued learning can take place with a structure that reflects a school day. For parents/pupils from FS1 to Year 6, all work is accessed by logging on to the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and entering the ‘Bow Remote Learning’ Learning Space.
Further specific detail is outlined in the letter below from Head of Bow, Sally Harrod.
We will continue to communicate with Parents/Guardians in our usual ways throughout the school closure.
As well as individual contact via email, the school telephone lines will be manned as usual and we will use text messaging, InTouch and the website/social media as and when necessary.
