Durham School pupils offered their dream places at Cambridge Two students at a North East’s top independent day and boarding school are celebrating after receiving offers to study at Cambridge.

Durham School sixth former, Elise Hunter, has been offered a place at Clare College, Cambridge to read Law if she achieves grades of 1 A* and 2A’s in her English Literature, History and Politics A Levels.

Linda Lin, has been offered a place at Peterhouse College, Cambridge to read Economics if she achieves 2A* and 1 A in her A Levels. Linda takes Further Mathematics, Mathematics, Physics and Economics.

Linda has also been awarded a prestigious Jardine scholarship from the Jardine Foundation based in Hong Kong, which awards full fees and a stipend to those deemed to be potential future leaders, who would give back to the societies in which Jardine Matheson operates, namely Hong Kong, China and much of south-east Asia.
Such scholarships are only for candidates for certain colleges at Oxford and Cambridge and Linda will be taking hers up at Peterhouse, Cambridge.

“We are very proud of Elise who is following her dream to read Law at Cambridge and Linda who has not only received her offer to go to Cambridge but also the honourable Jardine scholarship, is highly commended for all her hard work.”, said Headmaster Kieran McLaughlin.

The pupils will follow in the footsteps of Miranda Li who went to Downing College last year to read Mathematics and Sophie Hogg who went to Oxford to read French and Spanish.

Durham School, Quarryheads Lane, has achieved considerable academic success, with almost 54% of students leaving to study at their chosen universities.
