Durham School is fortunate to have a substantial and widely varying archive collection. Material has been gathered over the past six centuries both from within school and from the community of Old Dunelmians and friends.

Many of the more eclectic items from the School “museum” were passed to the University in the 1930s, but the School retains an extensive paper and artefact archive documenting the history of the school and its pupils.

The archive also cares for a collection of oil and watercolour paintings and the artefact collection, including a number of medals and trophies.

In 2010 a programme began to digitise key elements of the archive collection.  The Old Dunelmian Society has been instrumental in this work.  The fruits of this labour can be found on the Old Dunelmian Website

We are always grateful to receive any information or memorabilia connected to Durham School or Bow School, including photographs, newspaper articles, school magazines and uniform, which may further enhance our archives. If you have something of interest that you would like to share with us, or to find out more, please contact the Development Office.
