Spectacular successes at British Rowing Championships
(23 July 2010)
At the British Rowing Championships the School had a number of pupils entered in their crews or composite boats and achieved a record medal tally for the Club: 2 Golds, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze. This year Durham School Boat Club has had one pupil selected to represent Great Britain while no fewer than six members of the club (not to mention two coaches) have been selected to represent England – a remarkable achievement for such a small school. After missing out at the GB Final Trials Myles Holbrough (along with his partner) won Gold in the junior men’s Pair and was duly selected to represent England at the Home Countries International Regatta in Ireland on 25th July, joining Jack Deverson who had already been selected at the Final Trials.
A coxless Four including Matt Smith, Josh Tognarelli and Harry White were the fastest English crew and were also selected for the Home Countries in the Junior Coxless Four. School rowing coaches Jon Williamson and Dan Singleton were chosen to accompany those crews.
Nicole Lamb, already selected for the European Junior Rowing Championships, rowed as DSBC in her GB crew winning a silver in the Women’s Fours and a gold in the Women’s Eights.
Rob Bartlett rowed in a composite boat winning a bronze medal in the J16 coxless Four.
The Home Countries International Regatta is between England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales and will be help on 25th July at Inniscarra in Cork.

Testimonials
"An excellent atmosphere between pupils and staff with a really good House system, great teaching and a fantastic pastoral side. I thoroughly enjoyed attending Durham School and am very sad to leave."
