Spring Concert showcases high standard of school's music
(07 May 2010)
A large audience in Big School enjoyed a Spring Concert of great variety and rare quality on Friday 7 May. There were solo items to admire from Isobel Jennings, Joshua Tognarelli, Phillip Tait, Donald Gaze, Harriet Brooks, Sarah Bulmer, Lewis West, Poppy Hannah, Graham Thorpe and Luke Hall.Larger scale contributions came from the orchestra, junior orchestra, St Cecilia Singers, a brass trio (Philiip Tait, Graham Thorpe and Jonny Glabraith Brown), a guitar group, the Chapel Choir, the Big Band and a vocal ensemble calling themselves the Nantuckets. The programme comprised items as disparate as Bach's Italian Concerto and Lloyd Webber's "Tell me on a Sunday", Erickson's James Bond Suite and Schubert's "Die Forelle", an arrangement of "Bohemian Rhapsody" by the St Cecilia Singers and Debussy's Sarabande from "Pour le piano" - in fact something for just about every musical taste!
We would like to issue a warm invitation to attend two further musical events of importance later this term:
Friday 25 June at 7.30 pm - JAZZ NIGHT (Booking details for this very popular event will be published shortly)
Thursday 1st July at 7.00 pm - CHADEYRON SENIOR MUSIC COMPETITION FINAL (all welcome)

Testimonials
"An excellent atmosphere between pupils and staff with a really good House system, great teaching and a fantastic pastoral side. I thoroughly enjoyed attending Durham School and am very sad to leave."
