Craig Hignett guest speaker
(03 May 2010)
Ex-Middlesbrough footballer Craig Hignett was the guest speaker at a special formal dinner held in honour of the Upper Sixth on the evening of Thursday 29 April in Big School. In just a few weeks’ time all our Year 13 students will leave the School and become Old Dunelimians and this was the School’s way of saying a special “thank you” to all of them for their huge contribution to Durham School. Mr Hignett spoke amusingly of his experiences as a professional footballer and of the many eccentric characters he had come across during the course of his career.
There were also speeches from the Headmaster, Head of School Tom Newbould and Deputy Head of School, Rachael Parker, who delivered the vote of thanks and presented Mr Hignett with a copy of "Let Durham Flourish" - a history of the School.

"An excellent atmosphere between pupils and staff with a really good House system, great teaching and a fantastic pastoral side. I thoroughly enjoyed attending Durham School and am very sad to leave."
