Young ODs to play at Wembley Stadium
(06 November 2008)
Congratulations to 8 recent former pupils whose 5-a-side football team has just qualified to play in the finals of the Umbro Fives at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 23rd November. The team - called simply The ODs (Old Dunelmians) – comprises a group of 8 former pupils who play football regularly at Durham’s indoor stadium Soccarena. They are: Luke Flunder, Rob Flunder, Paddy Dias, Ali Blair, Kenny Reader, Davis Reader, Andrew Bell and James Walton. Along with 2000 other teams nationwide, they entered the national competition earlier in the year and now find themselves among the 8 teams to have the honour of contesting the final on the hallowed turf of England’s national stadium, coutesy of a lucky draw! Luke, who is the driving force behind the team’s activities, heard the good news by telephone from a representative from BBC Tees and The Northern Echo have already expressed an interest in the team’s success. The ODs have also been chosen as the team who will be photographed on finals day at Wembley to represent the face of next year’s competition. We will look forward to reporting on what we hope will be a successful day out for the lads at Wembley on 23 November. Whatever the result, it is sure to be a memorable experience! You can find out more about the FA Umbro Fives competition and the ODs’ success on the FA website at The FA.com.next event

Testimonials
"When you join the school, you get a buddy who is there to help you around the House and she is just like a big sister. I found that I soon made friends with all the other girls in MacLeod and many of the Pimlico girls. So settling in was not as scary and hard as I thought it would be - it was actually quite fun!
