Durham School Bursaries and Financial Support
The School is able to offer some Bursaries to enable pupils with suitable potential to attend the School, who would not otherwise be able to do so as a result of family financial circumstances. Such awards are dependent on an assessment of financial circumstances and are subject to annual review. Retention of such a Bursary requires a sustained academic performance. A maximum of three Foundation Bursaries (each worth up to 50% of the boarding or day fee) may be awarded each year to suitable entrants at 11+. In the case of these Bursaries, preference will be given to entrants from the maintained sector.
Please note that Bursaries can be held at the same time as and in addition to any scholarship or exhibition.
If you need financial assistance, you should indicate this at the time of registering your child. You can apply later but the School may be unable to consider applications for financial assistance made after your child has been registered.
A brochure containing further details of all examinations, awards and bursaries (including examination dates and application forms) can be obtained from the Admissions Secretary, Mrs Diane Woodlands (0191 386 4783 Ext 268).
