Durham School Sport and Activities
Each school day contains two afternoon sessions lasting approximately one hour each which are devoted to sporting and non-sporting activities. Some physical activity is compulsory for all pupils irrespective of age but the amount that is compulsory will depend to some degree on age and aptitude. Many pupils will enjoy one sporting activity and one non-sporting activity each afternoon.
Many drama and music rehearsals are also accommodated during this time and there is often some opportunity for pupils to complete some of their homework (especially the younger pupils). One afternoon per week is devoted to an activities programme from which pupils have to make a choice. Usually pupils commit for at least one term to their chosen activity before being able to switch to another activity.

Testimonials
"The House system is ideal. It helps new pupils to make friends easily and engenders a great team spirit. With experienced and approachable House staff, the pupils always have a familiar and friendly face to turn to should they need help, advice and assistance. The Head Boy/Girl of each House is another person that the pupils can turn to at any time. "
