Prep Curriculum
The Prep Department (Years Three to Six)
The curriculum continues to be in line with National Curriculum requirements but our small classes and specialist teaching allows us to deliver much more besides. Whilst largely class-based still in Years 3 and 4, pupils of this age are taught French and Science by specialists with the Science Teacher having her own science laboratory, and IT begins to form an increased part of their weekly timetable. In Years 5 and 6 pupils are taught by subject specialists across the entire curriculum range, with History, Geography and Religious Education being taught as separate subjects. Results are not everything but our performance in the Key Stage 2 tests bears comparison with the very best. At the same time, pupils are prepared carefully for the Durham School 11+ entrance tests.

Testimonials
"Since James has been at Durham School, we have noticed a dramatic change in his willingness to learn and listen. He has matured beyond our expectations. This transformation occurred within the first year at Durham School."
