Academic
The Prep Department (Years 3 to 6)
The curriculum continues to be in line with National Curriculum requirements but our small classes and specialist teaching allows us to deliver much more besides. Whilst largely class-based still in Year 3, pupils of this age are taught French and Science by specialists with the Science Teacher having her own science laboratory, and IT begins to form an increased part of their weekly timetable. In Years 4, 5 and 6 pupils are taught by subject specialists across the entire curriculum range, with History, Geography and Religious Education being taught as separate subjects. Results are not everything but our performance in the Key Stage 2 tests bears comparison with the very best.

‘Durham School has and continues to supply top cricketers, like Gordon Muchall, who made his first-class debut in 2002, to Durham County Cricket Club. Our close association with Durham School has also seen top class cricket coaching delivered by members of the team to help progress further these talented school cricketers. Emirates Durham ICG is not just home to Durham County Cricket Club, it is also home to rising local talent here in Durham.’
