Badger Nursery
3-4 years
"The children's personal development and well being are outstanding"
(Independent Schools' Inspection Report for Early Years Provision 2011)
Where is The Badgers Nursery situated?
Our Nursery is situated on the ground floor of Quarryheads House, adjacent to the main Bow buildings. The Nursery was relocated and completely refurbished in 2006. Our colourful and stimulating setting reflects all the areas of learning covered within the Foundation Stage and provides the children with a happy, friendly and secure environment in which to meet friends and explore new experiences.
Do you allow parents to play a role?
Our fully-qualified, friendly and experienced staff are always on hand to discuss any concerns and we actively welcome partnership with parents, so that you feel part of your child's daily activities and development. We are sensitive to your needs as a parent and respect and value your wishes with the aim of building trust and friendship together.
When can my child attend?
The Badgers Nursery offers a first-class nursery education within a flexible day. Our day begins at 9.00a.m. and ends at 3.00 p.m. Within this time we offer morning and afternoon sessions which can include a healthy and wholesome lunch.
To accommodate busy parents, children can be dropped off from 8.00 a.m. and extended care is offered until 5.15 p.m. in our “twilight” session.
How will you help my child to start school?
A great deal of preparation is included to ensure a happy and enjoyable transition to the Reception class. At this stage children develop at different rates and are facing big challenges; therefore certain activities will be structured according to their individual needs. We encourage the children to be independent, whilst ensuring a high degree of supervision.
How can I find out more about The Badger Nursery?
Please do come and visit us. Our Head of Early Years, Mrs Ann Champion, or Mrs Katy Dias will be happy to show you and your child round and to answer any questions you may have. Starting nursery school is also a milestone for you as a parent and the more you know about what is going to happen at school, the better you will feel.
To make an appointment to visit please contact the Headmaster’s Secretary, Mrs Jane Green, 0191 3848233

"Congratulations on a superb evening at The Sage Gateshead. I have been involved in several House Music competitions but have never seen such a high standard as was achieved by your pupils. I also thought that the support your boys and girls gave each other was terrific."
