How can I apply?

The Durham School Langley Foundation is pleased to invite applications for Foundation Bursaries for entrance to Durham School at Reception Class, 7+, 11+, 13+ and 16+.

The Foundation was set up on 27 September 2011 for the purpose of supporting Durham School's commitment to providing places for suitable boys and girls who will benefit from the School's outstanding education. Foundation Bursaries are means tested awards which can be up to 100% of the school fee. Foundation Bursary holders are eligible to apply for continued financial assistance to meet the costs of Higher Education.

Applications for Foundation Bursaries for entry to Reception will be assessed via the completed application form and an interview with the Headmaster. For entrance at 7+, 11+ and 13+ all candidates must be registered to sit the relevant entrance examinations held in January each year. Candidates may also be registered for the art, DT, drama, music or sports awards assessments which also take place during the month of January. For entrance at 16+ candidates must be registered to sit the 16+ Burkitt Scholarship examination held at the beginning of December each year, and/or the art, DT, drama, music or sports awards assessments which also take place during the month of December.

Please note that applications must be submitted by a specified date in the January for entry in the September of that year. Applications must be available for consideration by the Trustees Awarding Panel which sit in early February.

Demand for places at Durham School is high and the competition for Foundation Bursaries is likely to be equally so. Early registration for the relevant entrance examination or assessment is recommended. The Trustees of the Langley Foundation believe that the opportunities which the Foundation Bursaries will provide will be genuinely life-changing for the right candidates. They are convinced that the education on offer at Durham School is outstanding and are committed to making it available as widely as possible.
