The Constitution
The Friends of Durham School was set up in November 1938 by a group of parents and staff (including R.J.H.Poole and H.C.Ferens who both subsequently had boarding houses named after them). 'The Friends' was 'established to advance the education of the pupils of Durham School and to promote the charitable purposes of, or associated with, the School.'
'The Friends of Durham School' is run by a commitee (the 'Council of Friends') comprising current parents, former parents and staff. The main 'Council of Friends' meets just once a term but the various sub-committees which organise individual events meet more frequently.
