Narrow defeat for Bow at Durham School U11 Sevens

Narrow defeat for Bow at Durham School U11 Sevens

(12 March 2010)

Congratulations to St Martin's, Ampleforth (pictured) who won the Durham School Under 11 Rugby Sevens Tournament on Thursday 11 March and commiserations to our own gallant team from Bow who came so close to making it a double victory for the home school. St Martin's scored the first try in extra-time after the scores had finished level at 7-7 after normal time. Bow "A" scored 138 points in their six games with only 26 against and were one of three and a half teams fielded by Bow in this competition - both feats which deserves special congratulations.

Bow "A" reached the final with victories against Mowden Hall (33-0), Cundall Manor (21-0) and Barnard Castle (35-0) in the group stages. They conceded their first points in their (28-7) quarter-final victory before beating Terrington Hall (14-7) in the semi-final.

The Plate competition was won by Cundall Manor who defeated Mowden Hall (21-5) in the final.

Testimonials

"When you join the school, you get a buddy who is there to help you around the House and she is just like a big sister. I found that I soon made friends with all the other girls in MacLeod and many of the Pimlico girls. So settling in was not as scary and hard as I thought it would be - it was actually quite fun! "
Emily Phillips (MacLeod, Year 9)
