A dose of 'George's Marvellous Medicine' for Forms 3 and 4
(11 March 2010)
As part of their English work this term, Forms 3 and 4 have been looking at the work of Roald Dahl. On Monday 22 February the children paid a visit to Seven Stories in Newcastle to attend a drama workshop led by an actor from the Birmingham Stage Company which is currently touring the country with a theatrical version of Roald Dahl's 'George's Marvellous Medicine'.This was followed by a creative writing workshop based on the same story - the children had great fun mixing up some real 'marvellous medicine' and then writing their own ideas for some magical concoctions. Two days later, both forms travelled to the Whitley Bay Playhouse to see a performance of 'George's Marvellous Medicine' - the play kept everyone's attention from beginning to end and was a super way of bringing some great children's literature to life!

Testimonials
"When you join the school, you get a buddy who is there to help you around the House and she is just like a big sister. I found that I soon made friends with all the other girls in MacLeod and many of the Pimlico girls. So settling in was not as scary and hard as I thought it would be - it was actually quite fun!
